Just thought I’d put in a good word for the Canadian High commission in London. Seeing as my passport was up for renewal (Canadian ones are every 5 years, instead of the UK 10) , and I had forgotten and it was less than 2 weeks until it expired, in the middle of January I was running around like the proverbial chicken getting my application sorted. Having already transgressed the rules by actually SMILING in my passport photo and this being the reason for my application being rejected once already, I settled down for a resigned wait for the 4 weeks (or more) stated on the website…
… and was very pleaseantly surprised when it turned up on Friday, less than two weeks later! So, thank, you, efficient people at the Canadian High Commission! Much appreciated!!
Because you’re not allowed to smile anymore, my passport photos always have that deer-caught-in-the-headlights sort of look. Really attractive and no doubt will make Customs and Immigration look at me like I’m totally guilty of doing something illegal (why do you always feel that way when you approach a Customs officer, even if you’ve done nothing wrong?). But Confucious say, if you start to look like your passport photo in real life, you’re in real trouble!
