Good news for fans of Top Gear – the BBC have backed the show, against a variety of complaints, including recent complaints over the item about caravanning. The statement from the BBC acknowledges the humour may not be to everybody’s taste, but then points out that all of this is part of the character of the programme:
We acknowledge some viewers do not appreciate the Top Gear team’s sense of humour but their provocative comments are an integral part of the programme and are not intended to be taken seriously.
To be frank, with an estimated 350 million viewers worldwide, and the show having collected an Emmy award, I hardly think that the BBC are going to change the show!
Its good to see that the BBC have had the courage and stand up for their programming.
Incidentally, on last week’s show they mentined the complaints they had 1 about Christian religous comment, 2 about a muslim reference and hundreds about the caravaning. Does that mean that caravaning is a new religion?
I thought the caravanning episode was the funniest I’ve seen in ages! Gosh, I thought the Brits were supposed to have a sick sense of humour and would find that sort of thing funny. But obviously this isn’t the case!
