Those iPod’s Get Everywhere

This article from Wired gave me a laugh. Apparently Microsoft management are suffering from a bit of a lack of loyalty from their staff. Whilst the official company line trumpets their own digital music standard, and criticises Apple for locking people in to a proprietary standard (the words ‘pot’ ‘kettle’ and ‘black’ spring to mind here), it seems that Microsoft employees are making their own choice and buying iPod’s in their thousands. In the article it mentions that many employees who loyally tried one of the alternatives, gave up, and got an iPod instead. There is even an employee who blogs about lasting three days after getting one for his wife before he gave in and got his own! Certainly the impression I get is that Microsoft is merely following the trend everywhere else, especially if the number of iPod’s around work is anything to go by.
